Percorsi in ceramica 43

The latest issue of the publication by Casalgrande Padana, offered as a supplement for the occasion along with the long-established architecture magazine “Casabella”, celebrates the 30-year history and the 11 editions of the Grand Prix, the architecture contest organised by the company. The Grand Prix contest testifies to the constant attention the company pays to evolution and innovation on the international architecture scene, and seeks to consolidate and deepen the collaboration that has always existed between Casalgrande Padana and designers.

The contest documents the evolution of the products offered by Casalgrande Padana, in terms of both research and the creative use of porcelain stoneware, which has become one of the benchmark materials for architecture today. Thanks to its flexibility and versatility in terms of shapes and colours and its use in the various areas of construction work, Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware has a key role to play in architectural projects. Together with a commitment to guaranteeing increasingly impressive performance, to taking on board environmental sustainability as a value and to new finishes, colours and appearances, Casalgrande Padana has also demonstrated a commitment to experimentation. On many occasions, Casalgrande Padana has undertaken “custom productions”, some of them in synergy with designers such as Daniel Libeskind, 5+1AA Alfonso Femia e Gianluca Peluffo, Pietri Architects.

The works admitted to the contest - built and completed in the period from January 2016 to December 2021 - will be assessed by an international jury, and the best will be amply illustrated in the “Creative Book”, a publication by Casalgrande Padana in collaboration with the architecture magazine “Casabella”. The assessment criteria adopted by the jury will refer to design, function and application aspects regarding the use of Casalgrande Padana products. For each work, the jury will focus on how the ceramic material has been properly used and valued with regard to creativity in connection with architectural composition and design, the study of colour and finishes, layout design and customisation of the project. In relation to the particular use and type of work, the jury will also consider the installation, proper execution, application technique and study of details.
